Wrestlemania - 26 Main Matches

Many articles have speculated on the card for Wrestlemania but the main matches have now been officially signed. But who is likely to come out victorious?

World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Edge

A rivalry that was inevitable from the moment Edge returned and won the Royal Rumble, insisting Chris Jericho’s taunts at his lengthy injury has spurred his return. This is likely to be a close run thing which WWE management may play safe and place in the middle of the show as there are other matches likely to over shadow it. Expect Edge to get his revenge and become a ten time world champion. Jericho has a tendency to be a transitional champ.

Edge to win and become World Champion once again.

Bret “Hitman”Hart vs. Vince McMahon

It is still unclear as to what format this match will take due to the physical limitations of the combatants. But whatever the overall format of the bout, surely there can be no other conclusion that the legendary Bret Hart exacting his revenge on Vince McMahon on the grandest stage of them all. This most personal of rivalries in the history of wrestling needs definitive closure and having Hart wrap McMahon up in the Sharpshooter will do just that. Expect WWE fans to go absolutely crazy for this one. The build up to this has been exceptional with Vince revelling in the fact that he screwed Bret; surely he has to pay for that?

Bret Hart to finally get closure for Montreal screwjob.

WWE Champion Batista vs. John Cena

A difficult one to call this as both men are exceptionally equally matched. Batista has beaten Cena before and his promo’s lately have made this a very personal crusade for him. Cena however has worn the world title so many times what will another baby face run add any value or interest? Batista seems a natural heel and a lot of wrestling marks would prefer to continue to enjoy his selfish streak with gold around his waist. However a Cena victory is perhaps the most likely, if unwanted, outcome.

Cena to win another WWE title...just about.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio

Although not confirmed as yet this match will go ahead and is being built up slowly on Smackdown. By virtue of the fact that it is well known that Mysterio is due to go on the injured list very shortly after Mania then expect Punk to come out with a win from this one. That would also seem a smart move on the WWE’s part as fans have really bought into the “Straight-Edge Society” that Punk has formed and he needs the momentum to get back into the main event picture.

CM Punk to win.

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels- The Re-Match

Perhaps the most anticipated re-match in the history of professional wrestling. There have been rumours abound for over a year that Shawn Michaels was going to retire at Wrestlemania in 2010. Now that the match has been made “Career vs. The Streak” it seems almost certain that Shawn will lose and The Undertaker will become 18-0. There is no doubt that Michaels will take the deadman to the limit like the previous year but it seems unlikely that WWE will have The Undertaker’s streak come to an end. Expect emotional scenes at the end of this one.

Streak vs. Career? Streak wins and The Undertaker goes 18-0.

Money in The Bank

Although not all the participants for this match have been announced the likely winner is former ECW champion Christian. This is also the sensible choice as he is the only wrestler named in the match so far who isn’t a floundering mid carder, plus fans care about him. The idea of a potential Edge vs. Christian feud somewhere in the near future over a world title would have fans salivating too.

Christian wins the briefcase.

Triple H vs. Sheamus

Another match not officially named yet but will go ahead. Triple H is a huge mark for Sheamus and here he gets to give him the official rub on the biggest stage possible.

Triple H to beat his apprentice by pinfall.

With one of the strongest cards for some years Wrestlemania 26 should be epic, expect Edge, The Undertaker, John Cena and Christian to come out the big winners from the show.

Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase

A Ted DiBiase face turn has been rumored for months and was expected to coincide with the the release of his The Marine 2 movie, which hits stores this week. Teddy is still a heel and we’re hearing that there were talks as recent as this weekend about holding off on his face turn until the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Randy Orton has been named as a possible opponent for DiBiase, which could be a great chance elevate DiBiase.
